Volta Redonda implements social inclusion and entrepreneurship programs
The city of Volta Redonda is expanding social support through various municipal initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and promoting financial autonomy.
The Municipal Secretariat for People with Disabilities (SMPD) provides specialized services including access to education, support equipment, and guidance on legal rights. Programs such as “Enxergar Além” offer specialized medical consultations for the visually impaired, while the “Diploma Cidadão” initiative provides free higher education access for people with disabilities. Beneficiaries have also reported access to advanced technology, such as smart glasses designed to assist with reading and object location.
Additionally, the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (Smas), in partnership with Sebrae, has launched the “Trilha Empreendedora” (Entrepreneurial Trail). This program provides training for users of the Productive Inclusion Program, focusing on socio-emotional skills, business planning, financial management, and marketing. The initiative includes individual mentorship sessions to help participants develop their own businesses and achieve financial independence.
