Volta Redonda implements taxi regulations and expands health services

The city of Volta Redonda has implemented new regulations regarding the transfer of taxi service exploitation rights. Under Decree No. 20.403, the municipality has established administrative procedures for the assignment of authorizations, permissions, or grants. These transfers can occur between living persons or following the death of a holder. In cases of death, surviving spouses, partners, or children may request the assignment within one year. New holders will assume the existing terms, obligations, and remaining duration of the original authorization.

Simultaneously, the municipality is expanding its public health infrastructure to accommodate a growing population, which IBGE estimates has surpassed 280,000 residents. The city currently provides 443 beds for the Unified Health System (SUS) through a combination of public and private networks. The public sector includes three hospitals—São João Batista, Munir Rafful, and Nelson Gonçalves—along with two urgent care units, totaling 367 beds. An additional 76 beds are provided by the private sector through municipal agreements.
