Volume eating diet trend gains popularity on TikTok
The ‘volume eating’ diet trend, which has gained significant popularity on TikTok, focuses on consuming large quantities of low-calorie foods such as fruits, vegetables, broth-based soups, and lean proteins to promote satiety.
Experts note that while increasing fiber and water intake can lead to weight loss by reducing overall calorie consumption, the method is not a foolproof solution. Nutritionist Mays Al-Ali warns that if the approach leads to an under-consumption of essential proteins, fats, and total calories, it may result in rebound hunger, cravings, and a stalled metabolism.
Supporting this, personal trainer Steele Williams cites a study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition where women who combined fat reduction with increased fruit and vegetable intake lost more weight and felt less hungry than those who only reduced fat. However, experts emphasize that factors such as sleep, stress, blood sugar, and muscle mass also play critical roles in fat loss.
