Volunteer fire departments in Poland celebrate major anniversaries
Volunteer fire departments in Poland are celebrating significant milestones. The OSP Rzyczkowo unit marked its 80th anniversary, tracing its history back to its founding on December 12, 1945, following the initiative of local leader Ignacy Śmierzchała.
In Ruda Śląska, ceremonies were held to commemorate 160 years of volunteer firefighting tradition in the region and the 20th anniversary of the reactivation of OSP Ruda Śląska. During the event, the unit received a new light rescue and firefighting vehicle, which was purchased through the Civic Budget following significant resident support. The Ruda Śląska unit currently consists of over 80 members and responds to between 90 and 150 emergency calls annually.
