Volunteer initiatives in Germany recognize community engagement
Various regional initiatives in Germany are recognizing volunteerism and community engagement through dedicated awards.
In Landau, the city has launched its annual volunteer award with a specific focus on social inclusion. Under the motto ‘Gemeinsam stark – Ehrenamt für gelebte Inklusion’, the city is seeking clubs and initiatives that work to remove barriers and promote the equal participation of people with disabilities in social, cultural, and educational life. Nominations for these projects are being accepted until September 12.
In the Pfalz region, the Sportbund Pfalz and Pfalzwerke have concluded their ‘#heldengesucht 2026’ campaign, which honors individuals and organizations contributing to community life. The 2026 winners include Tierheim Ludwigshafen e. V. in the donations category, FV Berghausen and SV Otterberg in jersey sponsorship categories, and SV 1921 Rothselberg e. V. in the cash prize category. The campaign saw significant public participation, with nearly 200 applications and approximately 48,500 votes cast during the online voting phase.
