Volunteers clean Savona beach to remove plastic and debris
Volunteers and various environmental associations conducted a large-scale cleanup of the beach and promenade in Savona, Italy. The initiative included participation from groups such as Legambiente, Plastic Free, and WWF, as well as local citizens and children.
The effort focused on collecting small pollutants that often go unnoticed. Participants successfully gathered approximately 100,000 pieces of plastic and polystyrene, along with over 2,500 cigarette butts. Larger items recovered included plastic table legs, umbrella remains, a beach chair, a traffic cone, and a car radio.
Local volunteer Piero Sonzogno provided professional equipment to assist the Amici dello Scaletto-Furnaxi association in cleaning the terrace area. All collected waste was sorted and removed on-site by SEA-S.
