Volvo adds Apple Music to over 2 million cars via OTA update
Volvo Cars announced that Apple Music will be rolled out to more than two million Volvo vehicles worldwide through an over‑the‑air software update. The new EX60 model will be the first to ship with the streaming service already installed, and eligible owners will receive a three‑month free subscription.
The service can be accessed directly from the car’s infotainment system using touch or voice commands. On models equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system—EX60, EX90 and ES90—Apple Music supports Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, delivering an immersive three‑dimensional sound experience. Volvo said the update applies to model years 2020 onward across its lineup, including EX90, ES90, XC90, S90, V90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40 and EC40.
Alwin Bakkenes, head of global software development at Volvo Cars, said, “Many of our customers already use Apple Music on their phones or at home. By bringing the app directly into our cars we turn them into an extraordinary place to experience music.”
