Volvo Cars integrates Apple Music into over 2 million vehicles via OTA update

Volvo Cars announced that a software‑over‑the‑air update will add native Apple Music support to more than two million Volvo vehicles worldwide. The rollout covers models from the 2020 model year onward, including the EX60, EX90, ES90, XC90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40 and others. Eligible owners will receive up to three months of free Apple Music access, a promotion that runs until 6 July 2027 and can be redeemed through the Volvo Cars app. The integration lets drivers sign in with their Apple ID and control music via touch screen or voice, eliminating the need for a phone connection. Selected premium‑sound models (EX60, EX90, ES90) can also use Apple Music Spatial Audio powered by Dolby Atmos when equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system, delivering an immersive cabin‑wide listening experience. Volvo’s global software‑engineering chief Alwin Bakkenes highlighted that the feature expands the in‑car digital ecosystem and aligns with the brand’s strategy of delivering new services without a service‑center visit.
