Volvo EX30 faces scrutiny over software and design
The Volvo EX30, a compact electric SUV, has faced a mixed reception following its launch. While the vehicle initially saw high demand due to its competitive pricing, it has been criticized for significant software bugs and interior design choices. Early issues included system malfunctions and starting problems, though Volvo has since released numerous software updates to address these concerns.
Design criticisms focus on the minimalist interior, which lacks a traditional instrument cluster, instead displaying speed and information on a central touchscreen. This layout requires driver adaptation. Additionally, the use of recycled materials results in many hard surfaces, and rear passenger space is noted as limited for adults.
The EX30 is built on Geely’s SEA2 platform, sharing technical similarities with the Smart #1 and Zeekr X. While some users found the initial experience challenging, recent updates and a shift in production to Belgium have aimed to improve the model's reliability and overall quality.
