Volvo EX30 gains vehicle-to-load power capability

Volvo has introduced vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability to its EX30, the brand’s smallest battery-electric SUV, via a free over-the-air software update. This feature allows the vehicle to act as a mobile power source, delivering up to 3 kilowatts of electricity to external devices through a dedicated adapter sold separately.

The capability is designed for practical everyday use, such as powering coffee makers, tools, camping equipment, or refrigerators. To prevent the vehicle from being left with an empty battery, the system is programmed to automatically stop delivering power once the battery's state of charge drops below 20 percent.

In addition to these technical updates, the EX30 is characterized as a compact crossover that emphasizes design and performance. While it offers a Scandinavian-inspired interior focused on sustainability, the compact dimensions result in more limited rear legroom and cargo space compared to larger Volvo models.
