Volvo EX30 receives software update enabling Vehicle-to-Load functionality

Volvo Cars is rolling out a free over-the-air (OTA) software update for the EX30 electric vehicle, enabling Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. This feature allows the car to act as a mobile power source, capable of supplying up to 3 kW of power to external devices such as coffee machines, power tools, or electric bikes via an external adapter.

To protect the vehicle, the power delivery automatically shuts off if the battery state of charge drops below 20%. The update also introduces Plug & Charge capability in certain European markets, allowing for more seamless public charging without the need for additional apps or cards. Additionally, the update includes an improved user interface with a customizable contextual bar and a redesigned settings menu to enhance the driving experience.
