Volvo EX60 production delays impact U.S. shipments

Production difficulties involving new manufacturing techniques are delaying shipments of the Volvo EX60 electric SUV to the United States. According to reports, Volvo’s implementation of megacasting and cell-to-body construction methods has proven more complex than anticipated, resulting in output levels that are reportedly only one-tenth of the original production target.

While a small number of EX60 units have reached U.S. dealers, substantial volume is not expected until the second half of 2027. This delay poses a potential challenge to Volvo’s goal of achieving 200,000 annual U.S. retail sales by 2030. The EX60 is intended to serve as the electric counterpart to the highly successful XC60 model.
