Volvo EX90 to launch in Malaysia with 800V fast-charging technology

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced the upcoming launch of the updated Volvo EX90 electric SUV in Malaysia. The new model features a significant technical upgrade, moving from a 400-volt system to an 800-volt electrical architecture.

This transition enables faster DC charging capabilities, increasing the maximum power from 250 kW to 350 kW. With the existing 111 kWh battery, the vehicle can now charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes, and can add 250 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

The updated powertrain delivers 680 PS (500 kW) and 870 Nm of torque in its Twin Motor Performance configuration. Due to the higher horsepower and reduced weight from thinner internal wiring, the vehicle can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The top speed remains capped at 180 km/h.
