Volvo prepares to launch luxury EVs EX90 and ES90 in Vietnam

Volvo Vietnam posted teaser images of its two upcoming all‑electric models, the EX90 SUV and the ES90 fastback sedan, and began accepting deposits from customers in early July. Both vehicles will be imported as complete cars from Malaysia, with sales expected to commence by the end of the year.

The EX90 is positioned as a large, seven‑seat SUV, offered in an Ultra version with dual electric motors delivering 517 hp and 910 Nm of torque, a 111 kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 623 km. The ES90, based on the S90 platform, features a single rear‑motor delivering 333 hp and 480 Nm, a 92 kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 651 km. It is Volvo’s first model to use an 800 V architecture, supporting up to 350 kW DC fast‑charging that can add around 300 km of range in ten minutes.

Both models share Volvo’s minimalist Scandinavian interior, a 14.5‑inch vertical touchscreen, hidden door handles and Thor’s Hammer LED lighting. Pricing and detailed specifications for the Vietnamese market have not been disclosed. Volvo expects the EX90 to compete with premium electric SUVs such as the Mercedes‑EQE and Audi Q8 e‑tron, while the ES90 will face rivals like the upcoming Lexus ES500e electric sedan.
