Volvo rolls out CarPlay Spatial Audio for EX90

Volvo has confirmed the rollout of CarPlay Spatial Audio, powered by Dolby Atmos technology, to its EX90 electric flagship SUV via a software update. This feature provides a more immersive, multi-dimensional audio experience for music and podcasts.

Access to this spatial audio functionality is not universal across all models; it requires vehicles equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system. This update follows Volvo's previous announcements regarding spatial audio plans for the EX60, EX90, and ES90 models.

The expansion of CarPlay capabilities continues as Apple develops broader entertainment features. Recent developer communications indicate that CarPlay video functionality, which allows users to watch content via AirPlay while the vehicle is not in motion, will be available in new compatible vehicles.
