Volvo updates XC60 and XC90 with significantly increased electric range
Volvo Cars has announced significant updates to its SUV lineup, focusing on extended electric range for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models and the introduction of new electric vehicles. The updated XC60 Long Range features a larger 41.2 kWh battery, enabling an electric-only range of up to 200 km (WLTP), more than doubling its previous capacity. Similarly, the XC90 has been upgraded to offer up to 160 km of electric range.
These updates include comprehensive design refreshes for the XC60, featuring a new grille, redesigned bumpers, and Matrix LED headlights. Interior enhancements include updated dashboards and the integration of Google’s Gemini AI for improved infotainment. The company is also preparing the launch of the EX60, a fully electric SUV built on the new SPA3 platform, which promises high performance and advanced digital architecture via the HuginCore system.
As part of a broader long-term strategy, Volvo plans to launch 13 new models by 2030, including new sedans and potentially returning to wagons, to facilitate the transition to full electrification across global markets.
