Voorschoten approves development of new sports center

The Voorschoten municipal council has approved the further development of a new sports center at Adegeest sports park. This project aims to replace the existing Het Wedde swimming pool and De Vliethorst sports hall.

The municipality has allocated 28.3 million euros for the development, marking the largest expenditure in the history of Voorschoten. Initially, the council has authorized 1.5 million euros to be released for preparations during 2027 and 2028 to reach a final design. Following the completion of this design, the council will decide whether to release the remaining funds.

The proposed facility will include a sports hall and two swimming pools: a 25 by 10-meter sports pool and a smaller heated pool with a movable floor. The project focuses on sustainability and swimming safety, incorporating input from residents, sports clubs, and schools.
