Vorarlberg customs seize weapons and drugs during 21,000 inspections

Customs authorities in Vorarlberg reported significant seizures during the first half of 2026 following more than 21,000 inspections. These operations included over 5,000 truck checks and approximately 16,000 mobile vehicle inspections, resulting in 430 successful interceptions.

Items confiscated include narcotics, prohibited weapons, smuggled cigarettes, and goods lacking environmental permits, such as crocodile leather handbags. Notable finds included two walking sticks that were discovered to be concealed stabbing weapons and 790 liters of champagne valued at approximately 23,000 euros.
