Vorarlberg drivers lead with car trips for summer holiday, study shows
A Helvetia study reveals that 57 % of residents in Vorarlberg plan to travel to their summer vacation destinations by car, slightly above the Austrian average of 56 %. The survey also found that 50 % of respondents feel safer driving than flying. Vorarlberg residents report the highest stress levels on unfamiliar routes (59 %), compared with the national average of 44 %. To mitigate risks, 81 % check their vehicle’s condition before long trips and 89 % ensure their smartphones are fully charged for navigation and emergencies. The study highlights the importance of thorough preparation, including route planning, vehicle maintenance, and awareness of local traffic regulations.
Andreas Gruber of Helvetia Österreich emphasized that such precautions enhance safety and relaxation during holiday journeys, while also recommending travelers review their insurance coverage for overseas assistance.
