Vortex Energy confirms western salt block at Robinsons River, eyes new eastern target
Vortex Energy Corp. has received the final technical study for its Robinsons River salt project, located about 35 km south of Stephenville in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The study, prepared by Lonquist Field Service (Canada) ULC, compiles geological, seismic, gravimetric and drilling data to refine the interpretation of subsurface salt structures.
The data confirm a significant western salt block, with well VTX‑24‑W‑02 (drilled in 2024) intersecting roughly 278 m of gross salt. Seismic interpretation also points to a potential step‑out to the west where the salt layer could thicken to about 350 m. Newly processed gravimetric data suggest a large, untested eastern target that may lie deeper and contain purer salt, though this has not yet been verified by drilling.
Next steps outlined in the study include detailed core analysis, investigations of source‑water and disposal options, and technical planning for further work. The study does not constitute a NI 43‑101 resource estimate and further work is required before the project’s suitability for commercial salt extraction, brine production, or underground energy storage can be determined.
