Voter registration backlogs reported in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Electoral roll revisions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have encountered significant administrative backlogs and voter response issues during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
In Andhra Pradesh, approximately 1.76 lakh new voter registrations remain pending. Data from the office of the chief electoral officer indicates that out of 404,614 Form-6 applications received, 274,829 were included in the rolls, while 8,815 were rejected. Significant pendency was noted in Nellore, YSR, and Prakasam districts. Additionally, 88,546 Form-8 applications for corrections or modifications are currently pending.
In Telangana, more than 41.84 lakh notices issued to voters have lapsed because individuals failed to respond within the required timeframe. The Medchal-Malkajgiri district reported the highest number of lapsed notices at 7.98 lakh. While 46.25 lakh voters have completed the verification process, over 30.36 lakh records are currently parked pending final scrutiny before the revised electoral roll is published on November 9.
