Voula: Physical education teacher arrested for sexual harassment of minors

A 58-year-old physical education teacher at a middle school in Voula, Greece, has been arrested and faces criminal charges for the violation of the sexual dignity of minors. The investigation was triggered by a complaint from the mother of a 13-year-old student, who alleged that the teacher inappropriately touched her daughter during a physical exercise on October 14.

Following the initial report, two male students also came forward to testify, alleging that the teacher had previously touched their genitals. The teacher has been placed on mandatory leave by the Minister of Education, Sofia Zacharaki, and an official administrative inquiry (EDE) has been launched to investigate the allegations.

The teacher was released pending his trial, which is scheduled for Monday, under restrictive conditions that prohibit him from approaching the victim or the school premises. While the teacher maintains that the incident is a misunderstanding, the local Parents and Guardians Association has called for measures to ensure a safe and secure school environment for all students.
