Vox advances legislative motions regarding Ceuta sovereignty and migration
The political party Vox is advancing legislative initiatives regarding the status and management of Ceuta. In the Spanish Congress, the party has brought a motion for a vote following a mass influx of migrants to the autonomous city in July 2026. The motion demands an integral audit of the extraordinary costs incurred by the state, the immediate expulsion of irregular migrants, and a halt to the distribution of unaccompanied minors across other Spanish territories.
Additionally, the motion seeks to modify laws regarding foreign rights and integration, review police protocols to facilitate immediate returns, and proposes that unaccompanied minors be returned to their families or original country's guardianship in accordance with agreements with Morocco. Vox has also called for the suspension of the Treaty of Friendship with Morocco.
Simultaneously, the Parliament of the Balearic Islands is set to debate a non-binding proposal regarding Spanish sovereignty over Ceuta, also introduced by Vox. This debate occurs alongside other parliamentary sessions covering healthcare, housing, and migration management.
