Vox councilor Juan Manuel Badenas defends entry into Valencia student union premises
Valencian city councilor Juan Manuel Badenas of Vox justified his visit to the Sindicat d’Estudiants premises, describing it as part of his duty to inspect municipal assets. In a video posted to his social media, Badenas walked past the closed door, accompanied by two public employees, and explained that he accessed the location using keys held by the city’s Heritage service. He said the purpose was to ensure proper use of municipal property and to prevent risks to people, stating, “It is one of my obligations as a councilor.” The student union has announced a criminal complaint, accusing Badenes of unlawful entry and illegal recording. Compromís politician Papi Robles criticized Badenas, labeling the video a “fascist logic” and questioning the councilor’s motives.
The incident highlights tensions between the Vox councilor and local political groups over the management of public spaces in Valencia.
