Vox demands tree removal and pool access priority in Catalan towns

The municipal Vox group in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat called on the city government to urgently remove all Ailanthus altissima trees after a windstorm toppled branches and posed safety risks on Carrilet avenue. Spokesperson Francisco González warned that the invasive species’ weak wood makes it hazardous during strong winds and said the party will seek a plan to fell and replace the trees.

Separately, Vox representatives in Sant Cugat submitted a motion to the town council asking for a legal study on giving residents priority access to municipal swimming pools. The party argues that locals, who fund services through taxes, should receive preferential treatment, citing examples from nearby municipalities and noting a Supreme Court ruling that limits tariff discrimination based solely on registration. They request a report on viable legal mechanisms such as capacity limits or objective criteria.
