Évreux Mayor's license suspended after motorcycle speeding violation

Guy Lefrand, the mayor of Évreux, has had his driver's license suspended for four months following a significant speeding violation. On September 11, Lefrand was intercepted by law enforcement while riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Authorities recorded his speed at approximately 93 to 97 km/h in a zone where the limit is 50 km/h. The Eure prefecture confirmed the four-month administrative suspension, describing it as a standard sanction for such a high degree of speeding.

Following the suspension, the mayor has reportedly been using a bicycle for local travel. The incident occurred shortly after the prefect of Eure, Xavier Delarue, had issued a public appeal regarding road safety in the department.
