Vršič Pass to close for one day due to road reconstruction
The Vršič Pass in Slovenia will be completely closed for one day starting Monday at 4:00 AM due to asphalt resurfacing and road reconstruction. The closure is scheduled to last until Tuesday at 6:00 AM. During this period, traffic will be diverted through the Predel border crossing into Italy.
This maintenance work is part of a larger project to reorganize parking and traffic flow on the Ruska cesta–Erika–Vršič and Vršič–Trenta sections. The project precedes the implementation of a new traffic management system set to launch on September 1st. This new system will utilize barriers to manage transit traffic and parking at the summit.
Once fully operational, the area will feature 80 parking spaces for cars, 24 for motorcycles, three for disabled persons, two for buses, and eight short-term spots. Parking will remain free of charge until the end of the year. Real-time parking availability will be displayed on traffic signals at both the Kranjska Gora and Trenta entrances to assist drivers.
