Várzea Grande inaugurates Parque Tecnológico Mato Grosso to spur innovation and attract firms

The municipal government of Várzea Grande, Brazil, will inaugurate the Parque Tecnológico Mato Grosso on Thursday, 25 May, at 14:30, in the Chapéu do Sol neighbourhood. Built by the state government, the park includes a Centre for Innovation aimed at business development, startup incubation, professional training and collaboration among universities, industry and public authorities.

To ensure the facility is occupied, the city council received a proposal for an incentive law to attract technology‑based companies, startups and research centres. The municipality also carried out infrastructure works around the site to improve access.

Officials attending the ceremony include Governor Otaviano Pivetta, State Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation Dimorvan Brescancim, Fapemat president Marcos de Sá, park director Rafael Bastos and Mayor Flávia Moretti. They said the park is expected to diversify the local economy, draw investment and generate qualified jobs.
