Várzea Grande officials visit family farmers to highlight agricultural diversification

Officials in Várzea Grande, including Mayor Flávia Moretti and Secretary Ricardo Amorim, recently visited the Sadia 3 rural community to observe the progress of family farming initiatives.

Local producers are diversifying their activities to increase income, producing items such as award-winning cheeses, fruits, vegetables, honey, and small animals. The municipal government, in partnership with the Mato Grosso Research, Assistance, and Rural Extension Company (Empaer), provides technical guidance, equipment, and resources to help small-scale farmers improve productivity.

One highlighted producer, Ana Lúcia Morais de Souza, operates a dairy farm and fruit cultivation business that has received state and national recognition. Her family also participates in the 'Quintais Produtivos' project, which focuses on raising poultry and fish alongside vegetable cultivation to enhance food security.
