Várzea Grande presents 2027 budget guidelines amid legislative funding cuts

The municipal government of Várzea Grande has presented its Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO) for 2027 through two public hearings. Planning Secretary Lucineia Ribeiro stated that the municipality estimates a revenue of approximately R$ 2.21 billion. These hearings aim to ensure transparency and align public planning with the needs of the population.

Simultaneously, the Várzea Grande City Council has suspended the granting and payment of vacations and severance pay for employees. This measure follows a reduction in the legislative duodecimo—the funds transferred from the executive to the legislative branch—which dropped from 6% to 5% due to a direct action of unconstitutionality. The Council's leadership cited the need to maintain financial regularity amid these budget constraints.
