Várzea Grande school expansion reaches 70% completion

The Municipal Basic Education School (EMEB) Manoel Benedita de Arruda in Várzea Grande, Brazil, is 70% complete. Municipal Secretary of Education, Culture, Sports and Leisure Maria Fernanda Figueiredo inspected the site on Thursday, highlighting the addition of eight classrooms, a large cafeteria, a kitchen and five bathrooms, including one adapted for people with disabilities. The municipality expects the expansion to be finished later this year as part of a broader program to upgrade municipal school facilities, with several other schools also undergoing renovation.

School director Mirian Alves Nogueira said the new spaces will increase the school’s capacity and improve learning conditions for students, teachers and families in the community.
