Brno implements transit changes amid tunnel closures
The Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) has introduced several measures to mitigate significant traffic disruptions caused by the closure of the Pisárek and Hlinky tunnels. To address delays that previously reached 40 minutes, the city has implemented new bus lanes on Antonína Procházky street and a coordinating lane on Petra Křivky street to facilitate movement toward the Bohunice Hospital terminal.
Starting October 21, adjusted timetables will take effect. While this may slightly reduce the total number of connections, the changes aim to increase reliability by extending recovery times at terminal stations. Additionally, a new supplementary tram line, P6, will operate between Mendlovo náměstí and Bohunice Hospital during weekday peak hours to provide an alternative to congested trolleybus and bus routes.
Key affected lines include trolleybuses 25, 26, and 37, as well as buses 52, E56, and 68. Current data shows that recent interventions, including police traffic management at key intersections, have already helped reduce peak-hour delays to approximately 20 minutes.
