Vysočina region records 67% jump in electric‑vehicle charging energy use
In the Czech region of Vysočina, electricity drawn from public electric‑vehicle charging stations rose sharply, up 67 % year‑on‑year in the first half of the year. CEZ reports that 8.5 million kWh were withdrawn from its network during the period.
Key sites drove the surge. At the Herálec hub near the D1 highway, drivers took almost 100,000 kWh, while a station in Jihlava supplied roughly 80,000 kWh. CEZ operates more than 50 charging points across Vysočina and continues to expand, targeting a nationwide total of 1,200 “energy stops.” New high‑power and ultra‑fast chargers are being installed on busy routes to accommodate faster‑charging electric‑vehicle models.
CEZ spokesman Radek Doležal and vice‑chairman Pavel Cyrani highlighted the growth and the company’s plans to shorten charging times and improve the supporting app, FutureGo.
