Waberer's financing investigation targets potential abuse of office

Authorities are launching a criminal investigation into the financing of the logistics company Waberer's regarding transactions from 2022 and 2026. The investigation focuses on potential breach of trust and abuse of office by unknown perpetrators.

The case has raised questions regarding the role of state-owned and state-backed financial institutions, specifically the Magyar Fejlesztési Bank, Eximbank, and MBH Bank, in financing the company's transactions. This follows Waberer's acquisition by István Tiborcz in 2023. Investigators are examining the terms under which these loans were granted and the impact of the financing on the state budget.

Legal experts note that while proving personal responsibility in banking decisions can be difficult, the emergence of concrete documentation and formal legal proceedings marks a significant shift in how such high-value cases are handled in the public eye.
