WADA releases 2027 prohibited list for sports
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has released its list of prohibited substances and methods for 2027, which is set to take effect on January 1, 2027. The updates do not represent major structural changes but include clarifications in wording and the addition of specific example substances.
Key updates include the addition of peptides to the group of non-approved substances (S0), which includes substances not approved for human use that may still be banned in sports. In the category of hormones and metabolic modulators (S4), substances such as imlunestrant, seladelpar, SLU-PP-332, and SLU-PP-915 have been added as examples. Additionally, eplerenone and finerenone have been added to the diuretics and masking agents group (S5).
Changes were also made to the cannabinoids group (S8) to align with current research regarding substances with delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-like effects. For glucocorticoids (S9), vaginal administration has been added as a permitted route of administration during competition.
