Wage and income statistics released for Belgium and the Netherlands
Recent statistical data provides insights into wage distributions and earnings across different age groups in Belgium and the Netherlands.
In Belgium, Statbel figures indicate that a gross monthly salary of 4,000 euros does not necessarily place an employee within the top 20 percent of earners. Based on 2022 data, the average gross monthly wage for full-time employees was 4,076 euros, while the median was 3,728 euros. To reach the top 10 percent of earners, a monthly gross salary of at least 6,305 euros is required.
In the Netherlands, CBS data shows that workers aged 60 to 65 earn an average hourly wage of 34.87 euros, which is above the national average. However, their average monthly gross income is 3,951 euros, largely because many in this age group work fewer than full-time hours. For those aged 65 to 75 who continue working, the average monthly gross salary is 2,938 euros. Additionally, the data notes that retirees receive an average net pension of 3,095 euros per month.
