Wales announces £145m NHS investment amid gender-care surgery suspension

Separately, a Senedd petition calling for the immediate resumption of gender-affirming surgeries for NHS patients in Wales has gained over 13,000 signatures in less than 48 hours. The petition, launched by Christopher May, urges the Welsh Government and the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee to reverse the suspension of surgical referrals and assessments within the Welsh Gender Service. The organizers are calling for scheduled operations to resume for patients who have already completed assessments while an independent clinical review is conducted.
