Wallaby spotted on road in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana

A wallaby was recently spotted on a road in the rural community of Ethel, located in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Video footage shared on social media shows the small marsupial standing on its hind legs and hopping past a driver.

Wallabies are members of the Macropodidae family and are typically found in Australia, Tasmania, and Papua New Guinea. While they share characteristics with kangaroos, such as hopping and external pouches, they are significantly smaller, reaching heights of only about 3 feet. Local residents suspect the animal may have escaped from a nearby wildlife area or park.
