WalletHub ranks best and worst U.S. locations for retirement

A new study by WalletHub has ranked U.S. states and cities to determine the best locations for retirement based on affordability, quality of life, and healthcare. The analysis utilized 46 different metrics, including cost of living, taxpayer friendliness, safety, and medical care availability.

At the state level, Kentucky was identified as the worst state for retirees due to low rankings in healthcare, quality of life, and affordability. Other low-ranking states included Oklahoma, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

When evaluating specific cities, Florida dominated the top rankings. Orlando was named the best city for retirement, followed by Miami and Tampa. In contrast, Stockton, California, was ranked last among 182 cities, largely due to poor scores in retiree activities. California accounted for six of the ten lowest-scoring cities in the study.
