Walmart partners with Papa Johns for restaurant delivery
Walmart is expanding its restaurant delivery service through a new partnership with Papa Johns. This collaboration allows customers to order pizzas, wings, sandwiches, and desserts via the Walmart app or website, with the option to bundle restaurant items with grocery and household essential orders through Walmart Express Delivery.
Notably, Papa Johns is the first national restaurant brand available through the service that will be fulfilled entirely from restaurant locations outside of Walmart stores. This marks a strategic shift for the retailer, which previously focused on delivering from brands located within its own facilities, such as Subway and Dunkin'.
The move is part of Walmart’s broader effort to compete in the restaurant delivery market, currently led by third-party platforms like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. By leveraging its existing e-commerce and last-mile delivery infrastructure, Walmart aims to increase customer convenience and shopping frequency.
