Walmart recalls mangoes over potential salmonella risk

A batch of Martina-brand mangoes sold in nine-count boxes at select Walmart stores has been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination. The precautionary measure follows an inspection by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which detected salmonella in mangoes grown at a farm associated with the product.

The affected mangoes were distributed in Walmart locations across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. The packaging is identified by a light blue Agrofepac label, marked ‘Product of Mexico,’ with PLU code 4584 and UPC 07503061948050. While the FDA noted that the specific mangoes testing positive for salmonella were not shipped to the U.S. market, the recall was initiated because the products originated from the same farm.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall so far. Health officials advise consumers to discard the recalled mangoes or return them to the store of purchase. Panorama Produce is handling inquiries regarding the matter.
