US food recalls for pet food and mangoes
Overview
In late August 2026, multiple food recalls were issued in the United States due to bacterial contamination risks.
Northwest Naturals, a pet food manufacturer based in Portland, Oregon, voluntarily recalled approximately 1,956 pounds of raw frozen pet food distributed to retail stores nationwide. The recall includes 1,272 pounds of Frozen Chicken Recipe (cat food and dog protein topper) due to potential Salmonella contamination, and 684 pounds of Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe due to potential Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Simultaneously, Panorama Produce initiated a precautionary recall of 302 boxes of Martina-brand size-9 mangoes sold at select Walmart locations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. The mangoes, which were distributed between August 10 and August 21, 2026, are identified by light blue Agrofepac labels marked ‘Product of Mexico’ with PLU code 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.
The mango recall followed FDA testing that detected Salmonella at the farm where the fruit was grown. Although the FDA noted that the specific mangoes testing positive were not shipped to the U.S. market, the recall was conducted because the products shared the same growing location. No illnesses have been reported in connection with either the pet food or the mango recalls. Consumers are advised to discard the mangoes or return them to Walmart for a refund.
