Walt Disney World demolishes Westward Ho kiosk for expansion

The Westward Ho Refreshments kiosk in Frontierland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has been completely demolished. The demolition, completed by early August 2026, clears space for the upcoming Piston Peak National Park, a major expansion inspired by the film 'Cars'.

Following its permanent closure on June 21, 2026, the structure—which featured a signature shingled roof and Western façade—was removed from official park maps and the My Disney Experience app. The site currently serves as an active construction staging ground filled with heavy equipment and building materials. While the building has been leveled, crews have opted to preserve a large, mature tree that stood beside the kiosk.

With the structure removed, guests walking the main promenade now have an unobstructed view over the construction walls toward Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. To accommodate guests following the loss of the kiosk's offerings, such as candied bacon skewers and frozen lemonade, Disney has relocated nearby snack options, including the former churro cart.
