Walt Disney World Railroad closure extended to November 2026

The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park has entered a prolonged closure for refurbishment. While the shutdown began on September 28 with an initial target reopening of October 30, the Walt Disney World Resort website now indicates the historic steam train is “expected to reopen November 2026.”

In addition to the train service suspension, the final open entrance to the Main Street, U.S.A. station has been blocked off. This closure includes a staircase that previously provided guests access to a collectible medallion machine on the second floor and elevated views of Main Street, U.S.A. All other entrances to the station are also currently cordoned off with rope barriers and signage.

When service resumes, the railroad is expected to operate in a limited shuttle mode between Storybook Circus in Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A. This operational change is due to ongoing development projects in Frontierland, specifically Piston Peak National Park and Disney Villains Land. The Frontierland Station is expected to remain closed until the broader Magic Kingdom Park expansion is finalized.
