Walt Disney World highlighted two distinct operational initiatives. In one feature, fire‑protection systems engineer Jay and senior fire‑protection engineer Kevin, both employed by Disney’s Facilities Asset Management and Imagineering teams, discussed their roles overseeing fire safety across the resort. Kevin recalled working on projects such as Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, describing how Disney’s unique attractions present novel engineering challenges that require creative solutions.

Separately, Disney has been installing solar‑powered smart trash compactors throughout its four theme parks, beginning with a pilot at EPCOT and expanding to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs. The bins use solar panels to power an internal compactor, aiming to reduce custodial labor and increase collection efficiency. However, viral photos showed overflowing waste piled on top of the units, prompting criticism that the cost‑cutting measure may be compromising the park’s traditionally high cleanliness standards.
