WAPCo announces gas transport resumption in Togo

The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) has announced significant progress in maintenance work on the Lomé pipeline, with gas transport expected to resume by October 27, 2026.

The maintenance project, which necessitated a temporary suspension of gas transport through the Lomé lateral pipeline since October 12, involves three major components: replacing a subsea valve, replacing an inlet shut-off valve at the Lomé regulation and metering station, and conducting an intelligent inspection of the 19-kilometer lateral pipeline.

WAPCo confirmed that the valve replacements were successfully completed between October 14 and October 17 without incident. The project has entered its final phase, which includes draining and drying the pipeline to prepare for mechanical pigging and internal inspection using a magnetic flux leakage (MFL) tool. This inspection is required to confirm the pipeline's integrity before operations resume.
