War Hero Memorials Marked in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

In Medojevići, Bosnia and Herzegovina, a ceremony commemorated the Day of Heroic Resistance, honoring local fighters who defended their homes during the 1992‑1995 war. Former "Golden Lily" award‑winner Fikret Kovačević recalled, "Četa Medojevići … was surrounded for seven months and helped about 1,500 people reach safety without injuries." Municipal leaders also placed flowers at a new memorial.

On Croatia's Velika Duvjakuša, around sixty veterans and participants gathered to salute the 31 fallen and one missing member of the legendary 7th Guard "Puma" brigade from Varaždin. Veteran Darko Gavrić‑Čerčo spoke, "Defeating the enemy was only part of the fight; holding the terrain and surviving was a surreal mission," emphasizing the bravery and sacrifice of the Croatian soldiers.

Both events featured prayers, moments of silence, and reflections on preserving the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom.
