Wardha, India: Couple found dead in well and Instagram-linked kidnapping case

Police in Wardha district, Maharashtra recovered the bodies of a missing couple, Gujnan Prashant Ingale (40) and Mangesh Bhujngarav Khere (34), from a well in Hinganghat on 5 August 2026. The pair had been reported missing after leaving home on a motorcycle; their bodies were discovered tied together in the well. Initial investigations treat the deaths as a possible suicide, but a post‑mortem examination is pending to determine the exact cause.

In a separate incident, a young man from Wardha was abducted, beaten and thrown from a car after befriending a woman on Instagram. Two suspects, including minor Mohammad Sajid Khalid Rajya (19), were arrested; the minor was placed in a juvenile reform home, while the other accused remains at large. The victim received medical treatment, and police continue to pursue the remaining suspects.
