Henry Cavill to Executive Produce Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Animated Series

Amazon MGM Studios is developing an animated event series set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The series will focus on the elite Space Marine unit known as the Deathwatch and serves as a spin‑off of the Warhammer episode that appeared in Prime Video’s anthology Secret Level in late 2024. Actor Henry Cavill, who also stars in the live‑action adaptation, is attached as an executive producer. The project is being produced in partnership with Games Workshop, Blur Studios and Vertigo Entertainment. Director and co‑creator Dave Wilson, who directed the Secret Level episode, will helm the animated series alongside co‑creator John Orloff. Tim Miller will executive produce for Blur Studios, and Roy Lee and Andy Smillie will serve as executive producers for Games Workshop. The animated series was confirmed in Games Workshop’s recent annual report, which noted that the company’s financial position is strong and that production is progressing. The development runs parallel to the live‑action series, for which Mike Flanagan has been named showrunner and writer. Together, the projects expand Amazon’s push into adaptations of game IPs such as Fallout, Tomb Raider and God of War.
