Overview

In early August 2026 Amazon MGM Studios announced two parallel Warhammer 40,000 television projects: an animated event series about the Space Marine Deathwatch chapter and a live‑action series. The animated series is a spin‑off of the 2024 Secret Level anthology and is being produced with Games Workshop, Blur Studios and Vertigo Entertainment; Dave Wilson and John Orloff are co‑creators, with Tim Miller, Natalie Viscuso, Roy Lee and Andy Smillie as executive producers.

Henry Cavill confirmed on Instagram on 4 August that he will star as the lead in the live‑action adaptation and will also serve as an executive producer on both series. Horror writer‑director Mike Flanagan is attached as writer, showrunner and director of the live‑action series, and United Artists has joined the production team. The live‑action project is in early scripting, while the animated series remains untitled and will be overseen by Cavill, Roy Lee and Tim Miller. Both projects extend Amazon’s strategy of adapting video‑game IPs such as Fallout, Tomb Raider and God of War for streaming.
